Enclosure in negative pressure

Controlled enclosure around materials with asbestos a retiree

An enclosure in negative pressure is installed around the asbestos containing materials. Workers with appropriate equipment go inside the enclosure and remove the asbestos containing materials.

More details of the service

Enclosures in negative pressure need to be constructed when asbestos containing materials are friable, such as spray coatings, etc. These enclosures are also suitable for large scale insulations.

Any asbestos fibers released during the works remains inside the enclosure, avoiding the spread of contamination outside.

The enclosure can be both static and dynamic:

  • Static enclosure: Walls, ceiling, and floor around the materials to be removed. Main hygiene facilities must have connected to it.
  • Dynamic enclosure: Formed by the air extraction system with high efficiency particulate arrest (HEPA) filtration an sufficient capacity to maintain a reduced air pressure in the enclosure, to a level that is below that outside the enclosure (negative pressure).
